The perfect date chosen when time looked different looking forward. A date to celebrate a life kindness, joy, love, snark oh, the snark. Friends came back for all over the years, and joined in a world made to be always in search of churros. A joy found. A community built by love and kindness, punctuated by churros. A story shared. An inspiration to live while dying. A chosen family sustaining, supporting, loving. Living the memorial. The gift. The file. The hug. The cats the others inspired. For the perfect date not too hot, not too cold, a perfect celebration of snark with just a light jacket. Chosen not knowing time wasn't the enemy it became the gift. Every day a surprise. Trying to make the best even when pain was too much. The gift was known pain meant life still persists. Time marched on and took me with it. Holidays celebrated that weren't supposed to be. Another year turned casual for most, like a page of a book. For me a page that was supposed to be blank. I wrote it. Time marched on taking me with it. People seeing me, not the illness. Living while dying. Being vulnerable accepting help, much needed. It sustained. Supported. Saved. Learning getting help isn't weakness it's love. Gratitude. One month longer. Three. Five. Seven. The perfect date approaches. Time marches on takes me with it. I know soon it will go on and we will part. Much to still do. Share. Finish. The goodbyes aren't sad they are the gift of the math of time, as it marched on taking me with it. One more churro. One more hug. No more somedays now. The perfect date I'll be there, just in a different way. April 25th. A new reason to celebrate. A new holiday with friends. I persisted. Weaker and still me. Time marches on so do I. Too stubborn to die.
